Whether you are purchasing hair for a sew-in or a custom wig, it is imperative that you use the correct products to maintain the integrity of the hair. I believe that if you take care of your hair, it will take care of you. Because not all hair is created equal, I have created this list strictly for wavy and curly extensions. Be on the look out for upcoming blogs that will include product lists color treated hair. If you’re looking for products for straight hair, click here.
Before we get into the list, be sure to follow my hair and wig page on IG: AlishaJ.Collection
The following list includes all the maintenance and styling products that are recommended for your Alisha J. Collection® loose wave and curly hair textures. These products are the only ones that I use, therefore they are tried and true.
These sulfate/paraben free products will keep your extensions hydrated and healthy looking. It is recommended that you leave the conditioner on the hair for 5-10 minutes to ensure that the conditioner reaches its maximum potential.
This hair treatment can be used on your hair extensions as a deep conditioner. It is the perfect way to restore the hair after it has been worn for a while.
I use this only on my curly hair extensions and it keep the curls hydrated. After washing and conditioning, I apply this product liberally to the hair and let it sit for 3-5 minutes and rinse with cool water. (Rinsing with cool water seals in the moisture and prevents frizziness.)
I just recently added this to my curly hair routine. I love this product because it keeps the curls tamed during and after the hair is dry. I like to apply a very small amount throughout the hair after it has been washed and conditioned. I used a curl defining brush to brush the hair and then let it air dry. This product leaves the hair soft and hydrated.
I talk about this product ALL THE TIME mainly for the hairline, but it is also great for taming curly extensions. If you’d prefer a more uniform curl pattern, apply this product to the hair and let it air dry. Some foams leave the hair dry and crunchy, but this keeps the hair soft and hydrated.
This is the key to melting your lace and styling your baby hairs. This foam is alcohol free so it can be used with any adhesive (if you prefer to glue or spray down your wigs) and it won’t dissolve the glue. Just apply a small amount to your hair line, comb or brush your baby hair into place, and lay them down with your AJC silk edge wrap.
I SWEAR BY THIS STUFF! I love how this oil is heavy enough to moisturize the hair, yet lightweight enough to not weigh it down. I like to take a quarter sized amount every few days, rub it into my hands, and scrunch it into the hair. It will leave the curls soft, frizz free, and tamed. This is also good to use after washing and air drying the hair.
No matter if you’re wearing straight, wavy or curly extensions, this is what you need to get those baby hairs right. This tool is HOW you make the magic happen. Use these to comb your edges/baby hair into place. They are small enough to control the small area of your edges.
I also get frequently asked about night maintenance. It’s always best to remove your wig at night, however if you are wearing sew in or would rather sleep in your unit, you will need a silk bonnet of some sort. You can either put your hair in a few twist, or pull it up into a pineapple. Don’t forget to protect those edges.
