My Favorite Foundations
Welcome to my beauty blog!
I am so excited to share my top favorite foundations. I feel like it took me forever to find a foundation that worked for me. First, let me just say that I am no makeup artist or guru by any means, but I love to experiment and play in makeup. It took me years to understand my skin, but once I did, it was easier for me to find products that worked for me.
I have extremely oily skin in the summer and oily/combination skin in the winter (which is a newer discovery for me). While my skin isn’t super sensitive, I must be careful and consistent with what I use on my face.
My holy grail foundations range from drug store to high end.
Let’s get into it!
Maybelline Fit ME! Matte + Poreless
Price: $5.99
Shade: 355 Coconut
I have searched high and low for a budget friendly foundation that isn’t too orange on my skin. I have yellow undertones and this foundation matches perfectly. I purchased this foundation about a year ago and I’ve loved it ever since. I have larger pores on my cheeks and in my t-zone, and this foundation does a wonderful job of minimizing the appearance of my pores. Its medium coverage makes it comfortable to wear on a daily basis and doesn’t feel cakey. While I still find the need to blot throughout the day (that’s pretty much inevitable) it keeps me more matte than any other drugstore foundation that I have used. Lastly, this foundation is super easy to find. It can be found at ULTA, Walmart, CVS, and pretty much any other drug store that sells make up products.
MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15
Price: $29
Shade: NC 50
People can say what they want about MAC, but I absolutely love my MAC products… especially this foundation! It’s full coverage, matte, and it matches my skin tone flawlessly! Because it’s full coverage, I tend to wear this foundation when I’m going out with friends, on a date with hubby, or anywhere else more important than work. I can typically get away with one coat if I conceal my problem areas. I also like that it’s not super expensive. I usually purchase my MAC products from the MAC counter inside of Macy’s. In May of 2014, I visited the MAC counter to get my makeup done for my bridal shower. After noticing that my skin didn’t look orange, and stayed matte throughout the day, I was sold. I wore it again on my very hot wedding day in July with no issues. From that day forward, I knew I would love this foundation with all of my heart!
MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus
Price: $29
Shade: N9
I purchased my MAC powder a few months ago. Originally, I purchased this to set my liquid foundation, but after playing around with it, I started using it alone or with a small amount of concealer underneath. I love the fact that it provides enough coverage to be able to wear it by itself. Being an oily girl, I can appreciate a good powder. I have a few powder foundations that I like, however this one has taken the #1 spot! Not to mention, its less than 30 bucks!
Teint Idole Ultra Liquid 24H Longwear SPF 15 Foundation
Price: $47
Shade: 520 Suede
This foundation is more expensive, but I really love the coverage. It is long lasting and makes my skin look and feel smooth. I like the matte finish and that it stays put all day without creasing. I don’t wear this one every day because of the cost I always gravitate to this one and the next foundation and when I am looking for a full beat (typically for a special occasion). They say, you get what you pay for, and I can definitely tell the formula is more “expensive” than my other favorite foundations.
