Caring for your lips is important and should definitely be a part of your skin care routine. Chapsticks and lip balms help maintain soft and healthy lips, but the only way to truly treat your lips is by exfoliating regularly. Exfoliation is the process of rubbing away dead skin cells by using a granular substance. Granulated sugar is typically the base of most scrubs because it is not too abrasive and it will leave you with a smooth set of lips.
I personally love exfoliating my lips because it allows for a flawless application of lipsticks and lip glosses. Have you ever tried applying a matte lipstick, only to be left with an uneven and flaky finish? Yea, not cute…
After trying and loving many different lip scrubs, I decided to start making my own. Below I am sharing 3 super easy DIY lip scrub recipes. The ingredients I use are easy to find and budget-friendly.
Honey Lemon Lip Scrub
This is my go-to recipe when I don’t have any coconut oil on hand. The honey is very nourishing, soothing, and it has natural healing properties.
Ingredients:
Mix all ingredients until well blended.
Strawberry Vanilla Lip Scrub
This one is my favorite because its super sweet and delicious and the coconut oil leaves my lips nice and moisturized. I keep this one stored in the refrigerator to preserve the fresh strawberry. Be sure to mix prior to use because the sugar tends to settle at the bottom after sitting.
Ingredients:
Smash strawberry and then mix all ingredients until well blended.
Vanilla Mint Lip Scrub
I love this one because of the fresh minty smell and tingle. This one is a bit more textured than the others which I love when my lips are feeling extra dry. Keep in mind, you can always use more or less sugar to reach your desired consistency.
Ingredients:
Mix all ingredients until well blended.
I hope you find one that you absolutely LOVE! The small containers I use to store my lip scrubs can also be found by visiting my amazon storefront.
