Whether you are purchasing hair for a sew-in or a custom wig, it is imperative that you use the correct products to maintain the integrity of the hair. I believe that if you take care of your hair, it will take care of you. Because not all hair is created equal, I have created this list strictly for straight and body wave extensions. Be on the look out for upcoming blogs that will include product lists for curly and color treated hair.
Before we get into the list, be sure to follow my hair and wig page on IG: AlishaJ.Collection
The following list includes all the products that are recommended for your Alisha J. Collection® silky straight and bodacious body wave extensions. These products are the only ones that I use, therefore they are tried and true.
These sulfate/paraben free products will keep your extensions hydrated and healthy looking. It is recommended that you leave the conditioner on the hair for 5-10 minutes to ensure that the conditioner reaches its maximum potential.
This hair treatment can be used on your hair extensions as a deep conditioner. It is the perfect way to restore the hair after it has been worn for a while.
This weightless oil adds the perfect amount of hydration and shine, without causing your extensions to become too greasy. A pea-sized amount is recommended to be used on the hair after washing and air drying (prior to styling). Use only as needed to prevention build up.
This is a more affordable alternative to the Bio Silk oil that is designed to keep the hair shiny and frizz free. It is also weightless and should be used as needed.
Heat protectant is a MUST any time heat is being applied to the hair. This product will protect the hair from heat damage, leaving the hair shiny, healthy and soft.
One of the most important products for sleek edges/baby hair. I like to apply this wax to the edges, followed by the pressing comb. This gives a freshly permed/silk pressed appearance.
I talk about this product ALL THE TIME. This is the key to melting your lace and styling your baby hairs. This foam is alcohol free so it can be used with any adhesive (if you prefer to glue or spray down your wigs) and it won’t dissolve the glue. Just apply a small amount to your hair line, comb or brush your baby hair into place, and lay them down with your AJC silk edge wrap.
This tool is HOW you make the magic happen. Use these to comb your edges/baby hair into place. They are small enough to control the small area of your edges.
…and last but not least, the most important tool! Yes, I still have my grandmother’s old pressing comb, so if you have one of the GOOD ones, use that. I also have the electric one pictured above and it works well when I’m working in my studio and I don’t want to keep running back and forth to the stove. I like this over the Gold N Hot, if you’re shopping around. It gets much hotter and the teeth are smaller together which is KEY!
