I believe “you start how you want to finish,” and this is something that has carried me through life for the past few years. I use this in my everyday life by believing that I start my days how I want to finish them… Happy, Strong, Motivated, and Inspired!
This is why I believe in participating in devotional readings and I prefer to read in the morning. It is so important to me because it helps me to stay grounded. My parents instilled this into my siblings and I from a very young age.  No, I didn’t adopt this notion right away but as an adult, I now understand how important it is.  I’m not perfect at it every single day, but I try very hard to stay consistent.  When I wake up in the morning, one of the first things I like to do (after making coffee) is read my devotional books and then journal.  Currently, I am reading the books mentioned below. They are all very different, but each of them speaks to a different need that I have in my life.
This book helps to keep me feeling brave. Stepping out on faith and leaving a full time job with benefits was a BOLD move.  One that required me to be brave enough to live out my dream and materialize my ideas.  Sure, I get caught up in the thoughts of what others will think… and as a business owner you have to see things through the lens of many people, but it shouldn’t leave you feeling defeated. This book gives me the boost of courage that I need everyday in order to get through the day.
2. Happiness: 100 Devotions to Brighten Your Day
Y’all, 2019 was rough for me.  It affected my happiness and even my mental health.  This book is a light and easy read and it reminds me that I have so much to be happy about.  It also reminds me that I am not alone and how there are so many promises of God that I can stand on.
3. Healing the Soul of a Woman Devotional by Joyce Meyer
I just recently started reading this one every morning and it quickly became a favorite of mine.  Sometimes, I can’t read just one excerpt. It’s so relatable and it truly helps with overcoming my emotional wounds.  Things have happened to me that left me feeling hurt and broken, but the inspiration in this book helps me with just that.
Of course you do not have to read more than one book at one time, but I find these all very simple and easy to read. They do not take a ton of time and by the end of my reading time, I feel good and ready to conquer my day.
These books and others can also be found by visiting my amazon storefront.
Comment below: What are some of your favorite devotional/inspirational books and why? Once I am done with these I will be looking for more 🙂

I heard great things about healing the soul of a woman. The Bible App has a devotion, too.
